dog ate fish hook

my sons minature boxer ate a fish hook with bait on it what should we do?

In my opinion, you have an emergency on your hands.

Since fishhooks have barbs in them -- so they will not easily pull out -- it is extremely unlikely that your dog will pass this fishhook.

Consequently, the chance of internal bleeding and serious injury is quite high.

You need to take the dog to the vet for an x-ray -- and probable surgery.

Believe it or not the vet told me to give the dog 2 teaspoons of peroxide and see if the dog would throw up the fish hook. If not wait a couple of days to see if she was showing any bleeding or acting if any thing was wrong then we would have to do surgery. Low & behold she did throw up the fish hook and doesn't seem to have any other problems at this point. THANK GOD!

I am amazed and very glad for you -- I would have bet money that the barbs would have caused big problems.
