Reply to Eric's Post: This is a switch and not a sensor? Do they have a habit of going bad? What is the purpose of it. Thanks for the help.

Accepted Answer

Hi,

transaxle range sensor and switch are one and the same. One of the main functions is allowing vehicle to start by recognizing that vehicle is in park or neutral. If it is not functioning, vehicle will not start.

It is a fairly common part to fail
