When was the last time the furnace was professionally serviced?
Does it have a heat exchanger issue? What is the age of the furnace? What have you tried to correct the problem?Do you have a digital camera that you could use to send pictures of the furnace if needed?
You asked, "How do I get someone to check for the carbon monoxide leak", this can be done by a HVAC company. They have an instrument that is very good at detecting carbon monoxide and can pinpoint the leak. There are also Carbon Monoxide detectors that can be purchased for the home that will detect the presence of Carbon Monoxide.
An intermittent problem can often be difficult to detect unless the problem is happening when someone is actually at the furnace to observe the problem at the time it occurs.
The issue of the furnace being replaced by Lennox is an question that would best be addressed by the person making that statement.
You can contact Lennox at XXX-XXX-XXXX or XXX-XXX-XXXX, for more information. Normally only the parts that need replacing will be replaced not the entire furnace. Lennox did have a recall on certain model furnaces where they replaced the heat exchange but I believe that program ended in 1999. Calling Lennox with the model number of you furnace will get you more information on their recall and information on your furnace.
If you can provide me the model number of the furnace I can provide you additional information.

I am sorry the telephone numbers I gave you were no longer in service and are now being used by another company. I did contact Lennox and they said you should call a Lennox dealer and have them run a pressure test on the heat exchange on the furnace. If the heat exchange passes the pressure test there is nothing to do and your furnace is safe to use. If the furnace fails the pressure test they will replace the entire furnace with a newer model but it will cost you $550 and you will have to pay for the labor to have it installed. The heat exchanger has a lifetime warrenty on it and this model heat exchanger is no longer being manufactured, that is the reason the furnace will be replaced. They have also advised me that you will need to be the original homeowner that had the furnace installed.
If you have other questions please ask.
