Question

I have a 12 year old , 12 pound dauchsund. She has had two short crying episodes tonight. At this time she is resting quietly with her eyes closed. She has several large tumors on her chest. I have not had them removed, since the tumors have not seem to bother her. If she has pain tonight can I give some type of medication? I will take her in to the vet tomorrow.

Hello,

You can give your girl some Plain Aspirin at 5 mgs per pound every 12 hours as long as she does not have a clotting disorder or is taking any other pain medication. This should hold her until tomorrow. Make sure to keep her very quiet since Doxies are prone to back problems. It does not take much for a disk to hurt them since they are long bodied and short legs.
