Question

I am a 43 year old male and have noticed that when I urinate it comes it 2 streams. It has just occured in the last week and seems to do it almost everytime I urinate. I have also noticed a dull ache at times in my groin area-nothing very severe just dull at times. Could these 2 things be related or what''s your thoughts. thanks.

Have you had any tests for your condition or visited a doctor?
In addition to the dull ache, have you noticed any swelling in that area? or a swelling appear when you cough or sneeze or stand up straight?
do you have any other conditions that you are suffering from at present?
have you in the past had any infections or illness?

have had no tests. have had no swelling at any timenor am i suffering from anything at the present. the only thing i have had when i was a kid was i did have a hernia surgery on the left side and that is the side that seems to have an occassional ache. don't know if that could have anything to do with it.

Accepted Answer

one thing that i can tell you with some degree of certainty is that the pain that you are having in your groin is most likely from the hernia surgery that you have had in the past.. but i do not think that this problem of a double stream urine has anything to do with the hernia surgery that you have had in the past..

there are a number of causes for having two streams when one urinates... some of them are by birth (which obviously you would not have)... anything that obstructed the normal flow of urine through the urethra can cause you to have two streams... for instance there can be a little stickiness in the meatus causing you to have two streams.. additionally it is also possible for a growth to have occured at the opening of the urethra...or even inside the urethra and divide the urine streams...

so i would recommend that you get yourself examined to rule out these causes..

regards
