I have a 6 year old german short hair who is having problems getting up after lying down. Also after we hunt he is very sore and it takes 2 to 3 days till he is back to normal. This started about 6 months ago, what can you tell me? He runs, jumps and otherwise has no other prblems.

Has he been evaluated for arthritis or a disc or vertebra issue?

No, he runs plays hunts and when on his feet he shows no sign of any problems. When he is excited he gets up just fine. I know he needs to see a Doc. to get checked out but I was hoping you could give me some clue as to what we are looking at.

Hi,
There are several possibilities.If your boy does have any disc or vertabral issues they would swell after activity and cause his symptoms.You do need to xray the neck and spine to check if this is the case. If so, your vet will most likely tell you give him an anti-inflammatory before he gets started in the morning.
Sometimes only glucosimine is used to keep the joints lubricated.
I would have him evauted ASAP so he does not sustain any permanant injuries.
