Question

10 year old Corgie. Acting weird. Breathing funny - sort of panting - breathing is not episodic that is she not start and stop. It is continuous. But she pants and then makes a "funny"noise. Is extremely listless - pacing, going to her bed, going behind her bed, etc. Has a very, very foul ordor about her - described as rancid like. Some grey colored something a few minutes ago from her rectum. I am not with the animal. My friend called me on the phone and described. I am   RN but not a doggie nurse. But, I think I remember that grey colored stool is liver indicated? Please advise.

just observing. Called one vet who suggested that it might be a seizure and to get her in right away. Trouble is, it's 2:15 a.m. and there's a 12-year old child asleep and her single mom can't just drop and go.

Answer

Hello the panting and restlessness can indicate a upset tummy or other issues of pain so seeing a vet should be a consideration.l If it is not possible to see one tonight then getting into the vet first thing in the morning should be done. Blood work will need to be run to try and figure out if there is an infection, kidney or liver damage or other issues. If there is a smell that is really bad coming form here then it may not be good news as far as your baby goes. The blood work will be the only way to tell for sure what is going on though so I suggest that the dog be seen by the vet as soon as it is possible. For now I would try and give your baby a possible Pepcid to see if that will help with any stomach discomfort that he may be having. Give some plain pedialyte as well to help balance electrolytes and just try to keep calm and comfortable until the vet can be seen. Please be sure to let me know if you need anything else.

Reply to Bully Breeder's Post: She was actually seen by the vet long before you answered this question. I appreciate your advice and concern but the time factor was just simply unacceptable and not worth $15 consult fee to me.
The vet felt that the dog was stroking and she was euthanized. It seemed the kindest thing to do for her. She was content, laid down on the table to rest and just quietly slipped away. It was a very sweet experience for her 12-year human companion. Death is a part of life and can be a positive, even though very sad, experience. Thanks!

Answer

Hello, I am so sorry to hear about your baby and feel for you and your family. I would email Just Answer customer service to get a refund of your deposit. They will be able to do that for you since the answer was not helpful to you.

Reply to Bully Breeder's Post: You know, I explained to you 2 days ago that I am not accepting your answer and that I will not pay you. The reason is the response time. When I place my question, the "waiting room" popped up saying that I was being given "high priority" and that my question would be considered every 12 seconds. My dog was ill and needed urgent advice. First response did not come for better than 5 hours. This was not helpful. And, I don't feel that it was appropriate, certainly not worthy of payment. So, now you do not have 100% positive feedback and that advertisment needs to be adjusted as well. Have a great day.
