I had a chocolate cake (with some fudge on it) sitting on my counter, and my cat got to it. I want to know how much chocolate is dangerous to cats? There wasn''t anything noticeably missing of the cake, and she didn''t have an tell-tale signs around her mouth/whiskers, so I think she may have only licked it. What would be signs that she ingested to much? And what are at-home treatments I could try?

Question

It would take quite a bit of chocolate to actually hurt your cat. A small lick of the icing won't cause any problems. If you notice vomiting and/or diarrhea, or rapid breathing or anything out of the ordinary, then you need to contact your vet. Based on what you've said, I don't think you have anything to worry about. Poison control for ASPCA can be reached at XXX-XXX-XXXX. They may charge a consultation fee for calling.
