Reply to RIP's Post: yes its the 30amp fuse. when ever i replace the fuse and press the window the fuse blow. at first it was the driver window not working now both are down due to fuse

Accepted Answer

Thanks, What you need to do is remove the door trim panel and disconnect the driver side power window motor. It may be shorted which is why the fuse blows when you press the switch. If after disconnecting the motor the fuse no longer blows, replace the motor. If it continues to blow, let me know and we take it from there.

Answer

You need to use trim tools like the ones sold below on ebay...

Below is the procedure to remove the trim panel...

Notes

WARNING: For models with airbags, follow safety instructions.
If work is carried out in the area of airbag systems, e.g. on:

  • Door trim panels
  • Interior trims
  • Instrument panel ect. the ignition must be turned off in each case.
  • The ignition must always be off.
  • The ignition key must be removed from the ignition lock. This eliminates the risk of injury

CAUTION: DO NOT use any sharp-edged tools to remove the panel (risk of damage to side airbag)

this information is really good, after i buy the trim tools what type screw driver do i need i tried to used a standard philp screw driver but the screws are different

Posted by RIP 664 days and 20 hours ago.

    Answer

Ooops, I forgot to tell you the screws are Torx...you can pick up inexpensive Torx driver sets for around $10 at moxt any hardware store or Sears...they come with different sizes on screwdriver type handles. Take your time with the door trim panel...after you do it once or twice it only takes 5 minutes to get it off...and BMW trims panels are good experience for all other types of panel removals.
