Question

Is there an external fuel filter on a 2000 silverado pick-up besides the one in the tank? My truck acts like it is flooding out when tank is full and I have gotten po130 codes and a few others. The fuel pump was replaced about three months ago and this just started about a week ago. I use only 91 octane and add octane booster every other fill up what could be the problem?

Hello,Its on the drivers side frame rail in front of tank.Follow fuel line from tank going forward and you will run right into it.Have you done a tune up,wires, plugs etc?It is possible for water to present in tank.Have you had 02 sensor replaced? That will sometimes send false codes to computer to make run too rich or lean.Hope this helps.thanks for your question.Roger

Hi Roger,
I replaced the o2 sensor, wires, plugs, and ran 4 cans of heat thru it. The wierd thing is when the gas level gets past a half to quarter tank it runs better but full it runs real crappy. It ideals and revs fine but under load and above about 2200 rpms it acts like its flooding out and starts back firing in the intake.

Well i have changed fuel pumps in chevy trucks and on occasion had to replace again within six months. So i wouldnt rule it out just because its three months old.I would have the pressure check just to make sure.It is always a good idea to change return hose and the connections on the pump assembly along with the sock filter and inline filter. If your tank wasnt vatted and cleaned there is another possibility of rust in the sock filter.
