Question

Hi, my 45 pound border collie-austrailian shepard ate 5 of my glucose tablets--CVS brand, 15 calories, 4 carb grams each. She did this probably right after we left the house about 4 hours ago. When we just got home now, she wouldn''t potty (pee) but other than that she seems fine.

Hi,
What exactly is in these tablets? Just the glucose? They are essentially "sugar" tablets?

Reply to Dr. K's Post: yes. sugar tablets for diabetics. when my sugar gets really low, like 45, I take 2 or 3 to bring my glucose level up around 100-120. ingredients in the tablets include (from the package) 4 carb grams, 15 calories/each.   ingredients: dextrose, cellulose, maltodextrin, citric acid, magnesium sterate, orange flavor, ascorbic acid and yellow #6 lake.

the dog is 4 years old and about 45 pounds.

Accepted Answer

As long as your dog is not a diabetic, these tablets should have absolutely no effect on her, except maybe to make her a little thirsty. Do not worry. Just make sure that she has plenty of water available.
