Question
I have a 1995 BMW 525i that has a rough running engine that has progressively worsened in the last month. At first, it was just occasional and I could just turn the key off/on which seem to “reset” it. I though maybe it was something in the ECU, between cold and warm mode. But now it seems fairly consistent, with a lot of coughing and hesitating to get up to (and maintain) speed- like there''s water in the gas. I''ve refilled and tried gas antifreeze to no avail. The fuel pump was replaced about 10K miles ago. The problem seems to be electrical, but I''m not sure. The check engine light comes on/off but I''m unable to retrieve any codes (key to position 1, depress gas pedal 5 times within 5 seconds and nothing happens). Any thoughts?
