Question

I own a 2004 BMW X5 3.0 eng. Problem vehicle wakes up while parked and ignition off, meaning radio will turn on for a short time. This will go on and off at any given time, if vehicle is not driven battery will go dead. I brought it to BMW but have no answer to the problem,except they want to run more tests at apremium price. Could I get some ideas on what could be the problem with this unit?

Answer

There is a reflash for the radio. Cold climate wake up. Tell them to search the service bulletins for it. You reflash the radio software for it. X5 only from what I understand. Also, some have problems with the final stage unit turning the blower on for the hell of it and killing the battery. If you are sure the radio is what comes on, have them reflash it.

That was already checked when the vehicle was in BMW. The blower motor does not turn on. Any other solution?

Are you sure the reflash was done? Whats the software level in the radio? I've known a few dealers who had no clue about the flash and refused to even look it up until the actual SI number was given to them. I'll have the SI nuimber sent to me so I can pass it along to you.
