Question

2003 Pontiac Sunfire, left low beam headlight does not work as of last week. Headlight bulb and LH HD fuse replaced but problem not corrected. Investigated the problem on the internet and to my dismay the problem is very common on Sunfires. Owners of Sunfires with the problem have brought the vehicle back to the dealer and it seems it is always a wiring harness problem. The dealers add new wires bypassing the wiring harness to fix the problem. Question: I naturally understand where to splice the new wires by the bulb socket, but where do I connect the other end of the wires? Under the dash?

Answer

The problem is with the splice clips-they corrode.1 is inder the car behind the washer bottle and the others are on the radiator support cross bar.The wires are the same color as the wires at the back of the bulb. You cut the corroded splice out and solder in and retape it.

I found the one below the washer bottle and it is covered in salt. Unable to find any more. Will try to splice bypass wires

Accepted Answer

They are in the wire loom. One is about the 1/2 way mark the other is on the drivers side 1.4 of the way- Cut out the splice and solder it andtape it-there is no need to run a wire and you have to fix the other slices since they all play part in the lights.
