Hello, my name is*****
I am a licensed veterinarian and I will try and help you as best as I can.
How long ago did Murphy eat these candies?
How much does Murphy weigh?
Do you have any 3% hydrogen peroxide (in the brown bottle from the pharmacy) at home?
Customer: replied 8 months ago.
Murphy is 84 pounds and this happened within the last fifteen minutes, and I could get some peroxide in about 30 mins or less
Expert:  Dr. G. replied 8 months ago.
I see. It is likely that amount of chocolate will not cause any problems except maybe an upset stomach from the fat and sugar, since Murphy is a big boy. If you want to play it safe, you can give 8 teaspoons of hydrogen once. If there is no vomiting in 10 minutes you can give one more dose and that is it. Most dogs will just drink it right up without any problem.

what problems could arise if there is any complications without the peroxide? he ate the wrappers and all. I was trying to get them from him and he didn't even bother to chew much, didn't want to take a chance on losing his loot. He has very bad allergies, and is currently taking thyroid meds and clavamox and 375x4 day and prednisone.
Customer: replied 8 months ago.
superior typing and spelling skills are my specialty, that's supposed to be 4 clavamox 375 per day.
Expert:  Dr. G. replied 8 months ago.
I would not expect major complications besides vomiting with such a low dose of peroxide. The safest thing would be apomorphine via a trip to the emergency hospital
Customer: replied 8 months ago.
what I meant was what complications might arise from the contraband and the wrappers. I am trying to decide about the peroxide. I have given it to him one other time, murphy has a long and distinguished career as a thief and at eating anything he can get his paws on. we do our best, ***** ***** is tall enough to get most places when he is determined enough.
Expert:  Dr. G. replied 8 months ago.
I would say that the wrappers are the big concern here (vs the chocolate itself). The major complication is obstruction along the GI tract. Given his size there is a high chance that the wrappers will be moving out of the GI tract without any problem
Customer: replied 8 months ago.
how long do I have to give him the peroxide if I decide to
Expert:  Dr. G. replied 8 months ago.
I would give it within 2 hours of when he ate the candy. He should get no more than two doses, 10 minutes apart. Each dose should be given all at once
