Printer Repair Questions? Ask IT Technicians for Answers ASAP
Hi, I'm Nathan.Sorry to hear that you're having trouble, but I'll do my best to help you. Please give me a few moments to review your details here.
You cannot use an ethernet cable for this purpose.
You could use a usb cable for a wired connection,
otherwise you'd use ethernet from the printer directly to your router, which gets it onto your home network. Then when you go through the install process, which you'll have to do again, you'd choose network printer (not local).
Or if you want to reinstall as a usb based printer, you'd choose local then.
Let me know if that works for you.
