I have a photosmart C4270 which tells me the print

I have a photosmart C4270 which tells me the print cartridges are not being recognised and I have tried your reset procedure and can get to support and then reset but can not get the choice of Full partial etc
JA: What's the make/model number of your printer? How old is it?
Customer: A photosmart C4270 and is 8 years old SNPRB-0721
JA: What kind of computer are you printing from (Mac or PC)? What Operating System (OS) are you running?
Customer: PC Windows Vista but the printer does not respond when the computer is disconnected
JA: How long has this been an issue? What happened right before this popped up?
Customer: This happened last week after I had printed some documents
JA: Anything else you want the printer expert to know before I connect you?

To resolve the issue, start by removing the ink cartridges and cleaning the ink cartridge contact points with a wet Q-tip to clean residual dried ink and dust from the contacts. Then install the cartridges again and test to see if the issue is resolved.

Hi David I cleaned the cartridges with a Q tip but no difference!The 351 was new yesterday as according to my PC that was the cartridge at fault so I changed it.I believe it is the hardware in the printer so I believe a refund will be due.Many thanks for your help. regards Graham ****

Hello Graham,

One more thing you can try is to reset the printer. Please follow the steps below to perform the reset:

  1. Press the Power button () to turn on the printer.

  2. Disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer.

  3. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

  4. Wait at least 15 seconds.

  5. Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.

  6. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.

  7. If the printer does not turn on by itself, press the Power button () to turn it on.

  8. Test to see if the printer now recognizes the ink cartridges.

Please let me know if the reset resolves the issue.

No unfortunately the same message is on the sreen;Print cartridges missing or not detected.
