When I try to scan an item with my HP Officejet 4500 all in

Customer Question

When I try to scan an item with my HP Officejet 4500 all in one printer, I get a message saying that scanning is not available. Could you suggest a fix?
JA: Just to clarify, what's the exact model of your HP? And what operating system are you running?
Customer: I am not sure of the model --- I bought it used. I am using Windows 10. When I used Vista, the printer worked ok.
JA: Have you installed any updates recently?
Customer: No.
JA: Anything else you want the computer expert to know before I connect you?
Customer: No.

Hello,

I am the person that will be helping you today. May I ask how the printer/scanning is connected to your system? (usb, wifi, network, etc)

I look forward to your response.

Thank you,
Jason
