Have a HP Officejet Pro 8500 090G series. Printer jammed

Customer Question

have a HP Officejet Pro 8500 090G series. Printer jammed about 2 weeks ago. Took out the paper trays, lifted it up and did not see any paper inside, have taken out the back and opened it up and do not see any paper. Machine has been off for two weeks. Turned it back on yesterday and still getting the printer jammed error message. What do I do??
JA: Can you guesstimate how old your OfficeJet is? And just to clarify, what's the exact model?
Customer: Its from 2009, model #CB023A
JA: What kind of computer are you printing from (Mac or PC)? What Operating System (OS) are you running?
Customer: I have an Acer, running Windows
JA: How long has this been an issue? What happened right before this popped up?
Customer: Issue just within this last month. Had been working ok until then

Sometimes the rollers become dirty and cause the paper to slip. This can cause the paper not to pick up or even cause a paper jam because the sensors do not see the paper pass in a certain amount of time.

To fix the problem, unplug the printer power cable. Open the covers and remove any cartridges and look for loose paper. Use tweezers to pull the paper out or the eraser end of a pencil to move the rollers and get to the paper. Then use a damp paper towel with water or Windex and clean the rollers. Start where the paper touches the printer and look for white, gray, and black rollers. Use your fingers to move the rollers as much as you can to clean them. Open the printer and clean the other rollers you can find as well.

Then plug the printer power back in try to print.

The screen shows for me to take the back out and pull the paper jam. I have shut the machine down, taken the cartridges out, wiped off the white rollers in the back section which I pulled out, put everything back together and am still getting the error message??

Also have you tried this:

  1. Press the Power button () to turn on the product.

  2. With the product turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the product.

  3. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

  4. Wait at least 15 seconds.

  5. Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.

  6. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the product.

  7. If the product does not turn on by itself, press the Power button () to turn it on.
