Canon MG2900 still printing typewritten docs but quit

Customer Question

Canon MG2900 still printing typewritten docs but quit printing photos about 1pm today, citing media size or type problems. Have been resetting both back and forth, but problem persists. Rebooted printer and computer (Mac OSX10.8.5) twice, & changed cartridges. No success.
JA: Has your Canon done this before? And can you guesstimate how old it is?
Customer: Not this type of problem. bought it in june.
JA: What kind of computer are you printing from (Mac or PC)? What Operating System (OS) are you running?
Customer: Mac OSX 10.8.5
JA: How long has this been an issue? What happened right before this popped up?
Customer: This has been an issue since one pm. Only notable thing that happened between this morning's printing and this afternoon's refusal to print is lunchtime.
JA: Anything else you want the printer expert to know before I connect you?
Customer: can't think of anything.

I'm sorry about the issue. To confirm, you have disconnected / reconnected the power cord of the printer. Please try the following:

  1. Click on the Apple logo / menu at the top, then click on System Preferences...
  2. Then click on Printers & Scanners (or Print & Fax).
  3. There, click on the Canon printer, then click on the - (minus) button at bottom left, and confirm to delete it for now. Make sure there is not any Canon item showing there for now.
  4. Make sure printer is powered on.
  5. Then click on the + (plus) button at bottom left, then it should detect your Canon printer, then select it, then click on Add.
  6. Then check printing photos.
