just bought a new 220XL blk cartridge - EPSON cartridge. Get message "doesn't recognize. Cartridge is down and clicked in to posn
JA: Can you guesstimate how old your Epson is? And just to clarify, what's the exact model?
Customer: WF-2760 about 2 months
JA: What kind of computer are you printing from (Mac or PC)? What Operating System (OS) are you running?
Customer: Mac not sure of operating system
JA: How long has this been an issue? What happened right before this popped up?
Customer: Got a message that the old cartridge was empty, so bought a new one

The most common reason for this problem is a defective cartridge, this is caused due to a manufacturing defect of the cartridge. The chip on the cartridge is defective. Now, as the cartridge is new and every cartridge have a warranty, you can get it replaced from the store free of cost. But, before that follow the steps below to make sure there is no problem on the printer end.

Remove the cartridges.

Turn off the printer.

Clean the contacts on the printhead (the chamber in which we install cartridges) with a cotton swab and IP alcohol then, wait until it get dry.

Reseat the cartridges.

If the problem persists then, replace the cartridge from the store.
