Customer Question

I have an Artisan 725 and was trying to print a CD. The machine tells me there's a paper jam and instructs me to do several things. I do them. There is no paper jam but I keep getting the same message.
JA: What's the make and model of the printer?
Customer: Epson Artisan 725
JA: What kind of computer are you printing from (Mac or PC)? What Operating System (OS) are you running?
Customer: PC...Windows 7, that I recall.
JA: How long has this been an issue? What happened right before this popped up?
Customer: A half hour. Now all the lights on the printer are flashing, and it still says "Paper Jam Inside the Product." I'll turn it off, and it'll start again.
JA: Anything else you want the printer expert to know before I connect you?
Customer: No. All I want is to be able to print the CD!

Can you check and let me know, if the cartridges can move freely or not ?

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
Which cartridges?
Expert:  Sudipto replied 1 month ago.

The cartridges which have ink and print on the CD or paper, if you open the printer cover, you will see the cartridges.

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
Nothing is moving now; all lights are flashing and nothing is happening. I turn it off and the same "Paper Jam" will reappear.
Customer: replied 1 month ago.
No, nothing is moving.
Expert:  Sudipto replied 1 month ago.

OK, turn off the printer and try to slide the cartridges with your hand and let me know, if you are able to do that or not ?

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
All I can do with the ink cartridges is take them out and put them back in.
Expert:  Sudipto replied 1 month ago.

OK, so it means, even after powering off the printer, you cannot push or slide the cartridges, right ?

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
I don't even see that they push of slide on this model.
Expert:  Sudipto replied 1 month ago.

After you power off the printer, use your hand to push or slide the cartridges to the center and let me know, if you are able to do that or the cartridges seem to be jammed. Do you try too hard to slide them.

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
The cartridges are stationary but the unit that spreads the ink, that I moved to the middle.
Expert:  Sudipto replied 1 month ago.

OK, so you have the cartridges outside the printer ?

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
They're stationary on the lower right. There is a sort of ink spreader that moves.
Expert:  Sudipto replied 1 month ago.

OK, so your printer seems to have a CISS unit installed. Now, try the steps below and let me know.

Disconnect the power cord,

Wait for 10 mins.

Reconnect the power cord.

Power on the printer.

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
Okay. Is that all for now? If so, how do I disconnect?
Expert:  Sudipto replied 1 month ago.

No, just try it and reply me back and in the meantime, I will try to do some research on the problem.

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
I don't know what I did, but it appears to be working now.
Customer: replied 1 month ago.
Thanks. How do I disconnect?
Expert:  Sudipto replied 1 month ago.

OK, maybe moving the printhead had solved the problem because the problem can also cause due to a jammed printhead. Please let me know, if you need any further help otherwise please remember to give a positive rating, as that is the only way I am compensated for my time and effort.

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
I'll do so. Thanks. And you even taught me that it's a "print head."
Expert:  Sudipto replied 1 month ago.

Thanks :-)
