My printer is a J5780 all-in-one. It keeps telling me to

my printer is a J5780 all-in-one. It keeps telling me to shut the top when the top is shut and will not allow me to do anything.
JA: What's the exact make and model of your printer, and can you guesstimate how old it is?
Customer: regulatory model number sdgob.0701 subtel:3786 cnc:51-5055 sct:ttdhpsd06-566 I don"t remember when I purchased it.
JA: What kind of computer are you printing from (Mac or PC)? What Operating System (OS) are you running?
Customer: I only use it to copy,enlarge or make smaller picture.
JA: How long has this been an issue? What happened right before this popped up?
Customer: I have since purchased a HP 7520 printer but i liked my old one. It was working great before.
JA: Anything else you want the printer expert to know before I connect you?

Can you please remove the power to the printer (so unplug it from the power socket).

Then wait 10 minutes, connect the power again to the printer, turn it on and tell me please if it is now operating correctly.

still doing same thing. If I slam door shut sometimes it will work

It can be a sensor and thats not worth it

Open up the printer, power it off and wipe it all down with a damp cloth

then wipe it dry with a dry cloth, especially around the door
