Open the output tray manually" on an epson 640, driving me

Customer Question

open the output tray manually" on an epson 640, driving me crazy.
JA: Can you guesstimate how old your Epson is? And just to clarify, what's the exact model?
Customer: brand new, xp 640
JA: What kind of computer are you printing from (Mac or PC)? What Operating System (OS) are you running?
Customer: mac. The printer wouldn't even print a test though - not a computer connection issue
JA: How long has this been an issue? What happened right before this popped up?
Customer: this is all I am getting. tried to print a test page before connecting to computer. keeps saying the same error. I've pulled the tray out, put it back in, etc.
JA: Anything else you want the printer expert to know before I connect you?
Customer: no

It says to pull out the paper tray until it stops, but the paper tray comes all the way out of the machine - there's nothing to stop it
Customer: replied 3 months ago.
I've also raised the control panel to print - same error

Is anyone helping? It's been over 10 minutes.

The output tray......is NOT where the paper goes in......but rather.......where the paper comes OUT after it has been printed on.

YOu have to open it.....so the printer can send the paper through the printer and print to it, then spit it out the paper output, onto the paper output tray.

Expert:  Quiksilver07070 replied 3 months ago.

Typially this output tray, will just flip down, and is normally located on the front of the printer.

Sorry, this does not make sense. I've even checked the video tutorial here at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BUseJJRHaII
I'm following the steps exactly
Customer: replied 3 months ago.
where else would I load the paper?
Expert:  Quiksilver07070 replied 3 months ago.

its not about where you LOAD the paper....its about where the paper comes OUT after it has printed to

The printer has a door that closes off the output tray.

It wont print if the output tray is closed.
