My canon mx926 printer has stopped printing consistently.

My canon mx926 printer has stopped printing consistently. Sometimes it prints, other times nothing. other times just the outline of a document without the details - its weird. And there's no error code. The ink levels are fine, I've switched on & off & reinstalled the printer on my Mac. No good.
JA: Has your Canon done this before? And can you guesstimate how old it is?
Customer: never before. Its 2 years old or so.
JA: What kind of computer are you printing from (Mac or PC)? What Operating System (OS) are you running?
Customer: Mac, El Capitan V 10.11.6
JA: How long has this been an issue? What happened right before this popped up?
Customer: it was fine until a few days ago, when the problem started I installed the latest software update for Mac, hoping that would fix it, it did not.
JA: Anything else you want the printer expert to know before I connect you?
Customer: I've just checked the canon website & this printer no long appears under their product list - is it still supported / can it be fixed ?
