Customer Question

WF-2540, Windows 10 x64
When I scan to PDF or copy using ADF, several times (typically 4 or 5) while a source sheet is being processed the ADF makes a clicking sound and the sheet being read jumps. The result is that the output shows a garbled line. For reference, I can scan or copy without problem when the input is placed directly on the glass.
I have not found and references to a similar problem in the documentation I have.

this sounds like the ADF components are causing the issue.

The gears that control the ADF process, may have become clogged with something?

They might be broken?

They might be loose?

There could ba a number or things that cause the gears in the ADF process to fail.

.

The ONLY thing a consumer can do is a HARD POWER CYCLE.

Pulling the power plug from the wall.....wait 60 seconds (for the memory to clear) then plug back in, and power back on.

.

If the problem persists......then the printer is in need of repair, as it is suffering from a mechanical malfunction......and you wont be able to fix it without taking the machine apart......and if you do this.....you can easily break somethign else, as printers are very delicate devices.
