Oh my Canon Pro 10 printer refuses to allow me to change ink

Oh hi! my Canon Pro 10 printer refuses to allow me to change ink cartridges. The lid is up and I pressed the printer's RESUME button but the ink tank does not move to the accessible area. the ***** *****ght of the RESUME button flashes 17 times.
JA: Has your Canon done this before? And can you guesstimate how old it is?
Customer: It's never done it before and is less than 6 months old.
JA: What kind of computer are you printing from (Mac or PC)? What Operating System (OS) are you running?
Customer: In fact I was able to change one of the cartridges just now. I am MacOS X Sierra.
JA: How long has this been an issue? What happened right before this popped up?
Customer: The ***** *****ght had been blinking since my last printing but local vendor was out of stock of cartridges so I had to just switch it off and wait until the cartridges arrived. I did depress the RESUME button for more than 5 seconds out of frustration at one point, not sure if that did something to teh printer.
JA: Anything else you want the printer expert to know before I connect you?

Hi Steve, just returned home from work and switched on printer. Pressed RESUME button, voilà, the cartridge train moved to the right position and I was able to replace the cartridges. Interesting. Thanks anyway!
