Hi, thank you for contacting JustAnswer.com. My name is Russell. I will do my best to provide the right answer to your question.
The 241XL cartridge type, is listed by Canon as compatible with the MX452 model, so I don't think that is a problem.
Be sure you got that cartridge into the right slot, of course.
Error 5200 is generally indicative of a problem in the printer... I have a solution for you to try, but I have to type it in a little longer...
1. Turn off the printer, please.2. Press the Stop button for 2 seconds and hold it down.3. Press the On button, hold it and release the Stop button.4. Press the Stop button 5 times then release it at the same time as the On button.5. The LCD display on the printer should go blank for a while if you did this right.6. The computer may make some noise, or say 'Detecting new hardware'... it's no matter, just wait through it.7. Then, turn Off the printer.
8. Then turn it On again.
See whether that reset might perhaps clear up the error. If it doesn't, then I have more advice for you.
You mean, should a 240 cartridge (rather than 240XL) work in this printer?
Try the 8-step reset procedure I recommended, then. (240 and 241 cartridges are just the less-extra-ink-capacity versions of the 'XL type. They also work with the Epson MX452.)
Here's the 8-step procedure again:
See whether that reset might perhaps clear up the error. If it doesn't, then I will have more advice for you.
Check the ink level on the cartridges - if you replaced one, check esp. the ink level on the other cartridge.
(The old cartridges, if empty, should be removed, and the printer reset by being turned Off for 5 minutes, after you put the new cartridges back in.)
To repeat what I already said:
240 and 241 cartridges are just the less-extra-ink-capacity versions of the 'XL type. They also work with the Epson MX452.
