Customer Question

My HP Officejet 6600 is saying Printer Failure: There is a problem with the printer or ink system. I turned it on and off as it suggested. No help.
JA: Can you guesstimate how old your OfficeJet is? And just to clarify, what's the exact model?
Customer: A couple years. I see no other #'s as far as the model.
JA: What kind of computer are you printing from (Mac or PC)? What Operating System (OS) are you running?
Customer: Microsoft Windows 10. This worked consistently. I had a paper jam which I believe I cleard, but the printer has not worked since the paper jam incident.
JA: How long has this been an issue? What happened right before this popped up?
Customer: It happened on Friday, two days ago. The output tray was not fully extended and the printed copy backed up into the printer. I have had this happen but was always able to remove the paper and resume printing.
JA: Anything else you want the printer expert to know before I connect you?
Customer: I hope that covers it.

Hello, I'm Wes, and I'll be assisting you today.

Expert:  WesPCDr replied 8 months ago.

The error is showing up due to a malfunctioned print head.
Once thing you can try is to remove the ink cartridges, unplug the printer power for 10 minutes, plug back in, then re-insert the ink cartridges. If the error goes away, then the ink cartridges just needed to be re-seated.

Otherwise there is a malfunction with the print head that will need to be replaced.
