I just bought a new HP Office Jet Pro 8710 and I have tried

I just bought a new HP Office Jet Pro 8710 and I have tried and tried to get it set up. I have set printers up before but I don't know what I done wrong but it is not getting the message from my computer to the printer I think.
JA: Can you guesstimate how old your OfficeJet is? And just to clarify, what's the exact model?
Customer: I just bought it yesterday at Staples - it is brand new.
JA: What kind of computer are you printing from (Mac or PC)? What Operating System (OS) are you running?
Customer: I have a Windows system it is a 7 version
JA: How long has this been an issue? What happened right before this popped up?
Customer: Like I said it is brand new and I haven't been able to get it set up. I followed all the commands and nothing.
JA: Anything else you want the printer expert to know before I connect you?
