JA: What kind of computer are you printing from (Mac or PC)? What Operating System (OS) are you running?

Hello, and thank you for choosing JA for your support needs. Happy to assist you with this issue.

When did it first start and what was your printer doing when this issue first happened?

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
Months ago. I don't remember the details now. We may have changed toner. Not sure.
Customer: replied 4 months ago.
If I hold the "Continue" button, the printer will print a status page. When I attempt to send from my computer, the error is initiated. I can clear it by hitting cancel and then continue. However, as soon as I try to print again, the error returns. The status on my computer indicates the printer is ready.
Expert:  VanMagnus Systems replied 4 months ago.

OK, we will try a Printer Reset.

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
I already reset the printer by pushing the button in the back.
Customer: replied 4 months ago.
Not spending another 39. I can buy a printer for that.
Expert:  VanMagnus Systems replied 4 months ago.

The Factory Reset, Sir or Madam. Please see bellow:

  1. Turn the printer off.
  2. Open the upper front door.
  3. Press and hold Continue (u) and Cancel (X) as you turn the printer on. All the lights will cycle.
  4. Release Continue (u) and Cancel (X).
  5. Close cover once the error light is displayed.
Customer: replied 4 months ago.
Now all the lights are on and the error light is flashing.

Expert:  VanMagnus Systems replied 4 months ago.

Did you forget to close the cover?

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
Same result. Cover closed. Should I push reset in back?
Expert:  VanMagnus Systems replied 4 months ago.

Just shut it off and turn it back on this time.

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
Done. Error and lights clear. If I try to print, the error will come back.
Customer: replied 4 months ago.
Should I do the factory reset with the error off?
Expert:  VanMagnus Systems replied 4 months ago.

Try to Print, Sir or Madam.

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
Fail. Same problem.

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
What is the problem with it?
Expert:  VanMagnus Systems replied 4 months ago.

Your Printer is having a Major Error and must be serviced. Your thoughts?

Expert:  VanMagnus Systems replied 4 months ago.

Looks like a Main Board error.

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
If there is a major error, why does it print the status page without a problem and indicate that the system is fine?
Expert:  VanMagnus Systems replied 4 months ago.

Ok, the printer tells you that it is fine but you cannot print at all. Correct?

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
Correct
Expert:  VanMagnus Systems replied 4 months ago.

Ok, if was just a passing error. It would be printing now. Yes?

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
Unusual problem after years of service and 7000+ pages. Board errors tend to happen early in the life of a device unless there is some sort of shock or water.
Customer: replied 4 months ago.
Drum or other mechanical part would make more sense. Seems like there would be a code system with the unit to tell what the blinking light means.
Expert:  VanMagnus Systems replied 4 months ago.

OK, now. There is an issue know as " Mean Time Between Failure."

This is what is the issue. Your Printer is only rated at 5, 000 or so Pages, Sir or Madam.
