I have a MF5900 Series /W printer and I'm running ElCapitan

Customer Question

Hey I have a MF5900 Series B/W printer and I'm running ElCapitan 10.11.6MacOS. I have read through some of the forums and can't seem to find a way to turn OFF 2 sided printing for Word Docs and PDF's?

Hello and thank you for choosing JUSTANSWER.com

.

I do believe that when you go to print a document, you need to go into the PRINTER PROPERTIES, and select the type of print you want to do.

Within those settings, you should be able to select 2-sided printing.

.

When you do a TEST print, does it come out on both sides?

Nope I've been down this road. I DON'T want 2 sided printing I want to turn that option off! The only option I have says collated so I turned that off and still got 2 sided printing. Then I went into the printer options, on the physical printer, and found an option for 1-->2 sided printing and turned that OFF. Restarted the printer, checked settings and still 2 sided printing.

Ahh, well 2 sided printing.....for whatever reason......is the DEFAULT setting.

.

After you turn OFF 2 sided printing...do NOT restart the printer. Leave Printer ON.

Just do the print jobs.

Still no luck. Probably going to have to straight to Canon to figure this one out.....

Okay.....just a second please.

I found the proper section of the User manual i would like you to look at.

2 sided printing on this printer is a fickle beast.

I found this page in the Tech doc, please have a look and see if you can understand.

Let me know if you have ANY questions PLEASE!

Still no good... I tried both the paper tray option and the manual feed option info panel says 2sided is turned off, so it's beginning to feel like a driver issue, and for that I think I gotta go to Canon.

I would have to disagree here.

Otherwise you wouldnt be able to print at all, if you had the WRONG driver.

But, you are using a MAC.....so i suppose that it COULD be a problem in the software.

.

Printers such as these REALLY REALLY like to have a PRINT SERVER, sop that the printer does NOT comm directly with the end computer, rather it comm's ONLY with the PRINT server, and the P-server comms with the end computer.

.

This keeps the printer from seeing multiple different sets of computer drivers.

.

But.....im just an expert......looks like you are on your own now.

Best of Luck!
