I'm sorry about the issue. On your laptop, can you please click on the Apple logo / menu at the top, then click on About this Mac, then tell me your Mac OS X version, such as 10.6, 10.7, 10.8, etc.?

After installing both the Printer Driver and the Scanner Driver at the brother website I've provided above, then printing should work. But if it still does not work, make sure the printer is powered on
, then click on the Apple logo / menu at the top, then click on System Preferences, then open Printers & Scanners
, then click on the + (plus) icon at bottom left, and it should detect your Brother printer, then select it and add it. Then check printing.
