I have an Epson XP-520. I purchased Epson cartridges.

I have an Epson XP-520. I purchased Epson cartridges. Replaced the cartridges and now get a printer notice "CARTRIDGES NOT RECOGNIZED". They are Epson original purchases, not recycled cartridges. WHAT IS THE PROBLEM.

There are a couple of reasons why the ink cartridges are not detected.

Let's start by removing the new ink cartridges, then close the covers and turn the printer off.

Turn the printer back on again and wait for it to ask for the new ink cartridges.

Before you insert the new ones, clean the metal contacts on the ink cartridge using a paper towel

Use a cotton swab to clean the metal contacts inside of the cartridge holder as well.

Then insert the new ink cartridges.
