We have two computers, a desktop (Dell Inspiration) and a laptop 17R 5737). Both were hooked up to the same "Brother Printer (MFC-6490-CW). It worked for years, then one day the laptop seemed to lose connection and I could no longer print from it. The desktop still works.
Can you diagnose a connection problem?

make sure that the laptop is connected to the same router that the printer is connected to

the go to the devices and printers folder and delete/remove the printer

click the button for add printer

it should show up on the list as a network printer

select it and just hit next next next etc.

it should reinstall and work
