Getting error code 0753 "cannot connect" on a Canon Image

Getting error code 0753 "cannot connect" on a Canon Image Runner 1730 when I try to scan and email.
I've checked and double checked the connections. I've tried shutting the machine off for a minute a couple of times with no result. This error message was not provoked by any updates to any machines on the work group. We simply came in this AM and it doesn't work...

The machine appears to have lost its network connection.

Try turning your router off and on again and let me know if that reconnects it again.

I also tried that today and it didn't correct the problem.

have you done a scan and email on that machine before ?

it usually requires that you set up an email account with password ***** before you can do that.

if that email account changed passwords or settings it will need to be reconfigured on the printer to match

it was working fine in Monday. It just mysteriously stopped working yesterday.

try setting up the email address again.

it should be a different error if that is wrong but its worth a try

the actual error you are getting is a tcp failure which means it cant get the message out on the port or cant connect to the email server.

other possibilities are that the router is not getting to the internet or is blocking the ports that the printer needs to connect to the email server.

I tried setting up the email address again. Not successful.While I was in there I noticed that the machine is set up to send/recieve using POP but all the POP address and other fields are blank? Could that be the issue? I don't know how to fill those in if that is the case.

what is the email address that you are using ?

that would go in the address field

and of course the password ***** the password *****

that is a private email server.

have you got your own email server and if not do you know who is running your email service

those would be the people that could give you the settings
