I have received an Epson Workforce WE-3620. Less than a minute after turning on, the screen msg says to turn off the unit. And turn it back on. At the bottom it says error code 0x88
Id like to know what error code 0x88 means?

Can you please remove the power to the printer (so unplug it from the power socket).

Then wait 10 minutes, connect the power again to the printer, turn it on and tell me please if it is now operating correctly.

Hi Richard...Ive done that multiple times. Id really just like to know what the Error Code means. Maybe I could get it fixed myself.

Defective Encoder Strip or Sensor.

You can try to clean the strip yourself, this film shows how (slightly different on your model but same strip)

Else you would need to return the printer to have the sensor replaced.
