In 2011, I purchased a Pixma MG2012, which I have used

Customer Question

In 2011, I purchased a Pixma MG2012, which I have used for occasional printing. Now I find myself needing use document scanning and I'm in some difficulty.
First of all, my Windows operating system has changed to 8.1 [64]
When I open the full printing menu on my screen, there is nothing showing to the
right of the Scan selection.
When I try to download the manual, I get some strange error message.
In other words, all I can do is still print, but nothing else!!
What I need, if it's available is the ability to scan documents to my email for my MG2100!
IS IT POSSIBLE FOR ME TO DO THIS??

Please let me know the correct model no. of the printer, because there is no such model like MG2012

Customer: replied 10 months ago.

Thanks for the update, you said that Windows version was upgraded to 8.1 from 7, did you updated the Canon software after that ?

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
Not as I remember.
Whatever software was on my PC allowed me to print the pages I needed.
Only now I h.ave to scan some documents so I can send them to another person.
Forget about calling me at this time-- we'll stick with the current communication method!
Let's see what happens over the next 30 minutes...

Please follow the steps from the link below and let me know, if you are able to scan or not ?

I have a time bind. I have to go out for the remainder of the afternoon in about 30-45 minutes. After that, I won't be available until late this evening. I don't see a benefit to a phone call at this time. (11:45am PST) I didn't realize when I signed on that I would have to be available to respond at the present time.
How do you want to proceed-- given the above.
Expert:  Sowrav D. replied 10 months ago.

There is no need to use the phone call option, it is a optional service. Just follow the steps from the link, which I have provided and let me know when you are free.

I looked at the Start Screen but I was not clear where I should start!!!!!
I couldn't even tell which box defined the SCAN option.
I think I'm going to need more handholding than I first anticipated.
I need to be able to allot at least one hour to this situation.
I think we should delay this until I have that hour minimum.
Would you be available at 9:00pm PST tonite or should we connect tomorrow AM my time
Expert:  Sowrav D. replied 10 months ago.

No problem, just reply me back, when you are free.
