Canon PIXMA MX922. black ink was running out, I replaced PGBK250 XL cartridge. Now I am getting error 5100 when I try to print. When i first opened the machine to replace the cartridge, each of the 5 cartridges had a red light showing, with the old PGBK250 XL cartridge flashing red. Now that I have replaced the cartridge, NONE of the cartridges have a red light. Have canceled printing and turned off the printer twice now. Still getting same error message.

The error code 5100 is a service error inidicating internal jam

Please follow the below steps

Remove the cartridges and turn off printer and unplug power cord

manually slide the carriage assembly\ printhead back and forth
also clean the rail against which the assembly slides with a tissue ensuring that there is no ink residue on it
clean the golden contacts of the cartridges and the printhead with a cotton swab dipped in little alcohol
Now check the paper feed tray, roller assembly area and the area where the carriage moved for any stuck obstruction like paper, paper clips, pins etc and if found remove it.
once done turn the unit back on and check
