All of a sudden our Epson WF-2630 cannot send a fax. We receive communication errors. It appears to connect, we can hear the fax ring on the receiver's end, but we are unable to go any further.

Can you tell me a bit more about the problem please:

1) Is this a dedicated fax line, or a shared voice/fax line?
2) Is this a landline from the local phone/cable company, or a VOIP service (vonage/magicjack/etc)
3) Do you have dsl service on the same line?
4) Are you able to RECEIVE?

Is the landline a cable based one?

No, it does go thru our phone switch though.

this is usually caused by a line noise/quality issue

go into the fax settings, and disable the ECM (error correction) mode, which should allow you to send again

Menu/settings, fax settings, ecm, off

It would not be off by default, so you have to make sure you specifically highlight OFF and then press ok/enter.

next, in the same area, set fax speed to slow

Well, it sent one and that was it. Now I am getting errors again. I am going to punt this thing right out my window!!!!!
