printer keeps telling me it can't detect a color, then it switches to another color it can't detect while the first color is now detected. Ive already spent enough on cart rages to purchase as new printer. I have already done this twice.

That model doesn't look quite right. Is it a j470dw perhaps?
Are you using genuine brother cartridges, or generic/refilled ones?
What is the specific error message/code number that you get?
