Hello, I’m Nathan, and I’ll be assisting you today. My livelihood depends on your positive feedback, so your satisfaction is my highest priority.

Sorry to hear you’re having trouble.

How long have you had this printer for?
Is the message coming up on the computer screen or the epson?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
about a year.
Yes message on computer screen
Expert:  Nathan replied 1 year ago.

Thank you for confirming.

I need to know specifically if more or less than a year old.

Typically this message comes up on the printer screen, not the computer.

Is the computer giving any other info? Can you make a photocopy, directly from the glass?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Probably out of warranty.
When I turn on it makes a few sounds. ejects a clean page and then errors out
We cannot use copy function
Expert:  Nathan replied 1 year ago.

That is conflicting with what you mentioned earlier, so I will now assume the error is on the PRINTER display screen, not on the compute screen (which is what prevents a copy being made as well.

Unfortunately, this error indicates an internal hardware fault - a fatal fault. This is a logic board defect, which cannot be fixed by resetting, changing settings, etc.

The printer will need to be replaced at this point, this issue is generally not repaired. If less than a year old Epson will replace it for you

If you were outside the warranty period, repairs would entail replacing the logic board, about a $250 repair job, which isn't worth the investment - you can buy a brand new printer with a fresh warranty for about $80

Call 800\922\8911 to file a warranty claim and they'll arrange to send you a new printer if covered.

If you need replacement recommendations to replace on your own, let me know.

Best regards, ***** ***** for the news,
