my MG6220 keeps telling me to consult manual
the small black ink cartridge was used up, took me a while to get new one, and now the machine won't even start

printer error has occurred y, turn off printer
then back on again. If problem persists, see the manual

remove the cartridge Unplug the power cable manually slide the carriage assembly\ printhead back and forth
also clean the rail against which the assembly slides with a tissue ensuring that there is no ink residue on it
clean the golden contacts of the cartridges and the printhead with a cotton swab dipped in little alcohol
once these steps have been done, turn on the printer and let me know if the same error persists or it changes.

that's what I do in future? take out the cartridges, wipe the ink off the slider, return them?
