I am ready
I am talking to you from the PC. I have just gpt up Apple prefs
Yes done that, we did have a brother also set up to it before
Have you done that?
ComPuter locked up
no printers present now on the mac
No list of printers available
Is the Mac OS X computer is in the same wireless network, that you are using for the printer?
I just used it straight from ther computer however It ism now plugged into pc
Please plug in the printer to the computer using USB cable and try adding it again.
sorry it took so long had to unravel cables and rest it, done
Then, click the + (plus sign that you see on the print & scan window, and not on the keyboard) sign to add printer. Select your printer from the list.
Have you added it?
Try printing anything.
Yes but it was doing that before when it was set up directly to my mac
Are you using the same wireless network for your windows and Mac computers?
yes D link one wireless connection. is that what broadband is
How do you connect the printer to the Dlink router?
by eternet cable
And how do other computers connected to the router?
we have no phone line where the PC is so the connection comes in where my computer is in the hall
So, the connection is wireless from the router to other computers. Right?
I have a mac extreme which I was hoping would be able to do it form wifi, this I plugged in to the pc and to the Printer, but my mac would not pick it up
Please wait a couple of minutes.
Are you sure that the printer is connected to Airport extreme using USB cable?
I have the router plugged into my computer, then the extreme I plugged in my husbands office, plugger in a eternet cable int the PC and then another one into printer from extreeme
Let me get this.
The router is connected to your printer using Ethernet cable. Right?
I am trying to have the printer in the office, so that I don't take up room in the hall, it works perfectly from my computer set up, however wanted it work off husband pc nad then I could print by wireless
router is connected by eternet cable
So, you want to print from husband's computer using wireless. Right?
You and your husband using the same router, same wireless name and password?
I don't think I have set it up right, It asked me for a password XXXXX as far as I know it did not ask him for one, perhaps I have set up the network wrong
You can print, if you and your husband is on the same wireless network and uses the same router.
I do not understand PCs, beter with Macs and he is left handed which makes it alittle harder for me
You and your husband is using Mac computers. Right?
We aresing the same router, should I see whether he can print from his pc now that it is back on the mac?
I am using a mac and my husband is using pc other wise I think it would be easier
However, you have not added it after removing theUSB cable. Right?
Is that a wireless router you are using? Dlink?
link is a wireless router.
I don't know what you mean by the first comment
So, I would suggest you setup wireless on the printer.
So that, the printer make connection with the router directly.
Do you know the accesspoint name and password?
how can I do that, do I need to plug it back in to the PC
what is that, is that what I used to set up d link
Do you know the accesspoint name (wireless name) and password (network key)?
just looking for it, username password, would that be the same for broadband?
ok got that
On your printer, flick the screen right or left, and tap [ Setup ].
got that up on printer
Tap [ Device settings ].
Tap [ LAN settings ].
Tap [ Confirm LAN settings ].
Tap [ WLAN setting list ].
Sorry. missed that.
Can you go back and select Wireless LAN Setup, instead of confirm WLAN settings?
ARe you able to select your wireless name from the list?
it just says start set up, no list
Select Start Setup.
It saysm press dowm the wps button where is that on the printer
Do you see an option says Other method?
I can go back
I think that was on last screen
Please check that.
And check for Standard Setup.
gone back at bottom of screen other connection methods
Do you see Standard Setup?
Select Standard setup.
yes got Kattan
Select your wireless name.
And then, it will ask for passphrase.
Enter your password XXXXX there.
Please be informed that it is case sensitive.
network error, did I have to put in my username and password?
Try entering it again properly.
I was pretty sure I di that correctly, does the Dlink Ethernet need to be connected to printer to do this?
Try it once again and if that does not work, we will try another method.
I have tried it checked it but still error.
Do you have the printer driver disc with you?
I have a different password XXXXX the dlink
no I don't I think it has got lost in the move
That is okay.
Have you tried every password XXXXX you are ware of?
I will try the Dlink one
Are you using the same wireless name for Dlink too?
it is connected with dlink password XXXXX what I have pressed ok
Did it say connected to Accesspoint?
So, the printer is connected to the Dlink router.
it must be, but not by cable
You are using the same Dlink wireless connection on your Mac OS X based computer. Right?
The printer is not connected to any devices with any cables. Right?
yes to my computer the Mac
I have unplugged it from the computer
Choose System Preferences from the Apple menu.
o you wnt me to get rid of the printer
Then, add the printer again.
yes done that do I need to do the same thing on my husbands PC
Have you added the printer again?
yes, it says it is idle
yes it has worked
On your husbands computer, you are using Windows. Right?
If so, you may have to reinstall the printer.
Anyway, try printing from your husbands computer.
what do you mean
Try printing from the Windows based computer.
However, it will work only if both computers are in the same Dlink network.
I have and it says the printer is off line
Are you using Windows 7 on that computer?
the printer was set up already, so should I remove it? I think iot is windows8
Please remove it and reinstall it.
Do you have the driver disc to set it up?
how do I do that, seeing that I am useless with PCs
Can you get into Control panel on the PC?
husband just plugged it in and it downloaded the drivers automatically
Were you able to print from the PC?
You want to print wireless from the PC. Right?
we don't need to I can plug in the printer again to Stephens comp. as long as I can print wirelessly
shall I plug it back in and see if they both work
However, some printers do not work both on USB and wireless at the same time.
Please try that.
they are both working fab......
I am glad to hear that!
what do I do with the extreme do I need to plug that back in on my computer?
My goal is to provide you with excellent service – if you feel you have gotten anything less, please reply back, I am happy to address follow-up questions. Thank you for your business!
Why do you want to use extreme?
I don't know the new router we have just bought is way more powerful than the old dlink, so perhaps I don't need it
In order to use that with the printer, you have to set up with the correct wireless name and password XXXXX the extreme.
perhaps I should just make it redundant
Do you have any questions?
Thank you you have been great, one less headache....lol
You are most welcome!
