It seems that the black does not print.

Shefin :

Have you tried to print anything in black?

Customer:

The black prints perfectly when I print black. The color is off when I print anything that has red in it. When I print all red, it is yellow or orange.

Shefin :

Perform the color calibration by using the control panel.

Shefin :

  • Press the Menu button.

  • Press the Up or Down arrow key to choose Printer. Press OK.

  • Press the Up or Down arrow key to choose Calibration. Press OK.

  • Press the Up or Down arrow key to choose Calibrate. Press OK.

  • Press 1 to choose Yes.

Customer:

I already did that .....no change

Have you tried changing the color density?

Customer:

I don't know how to do that.

Shefin :

But it does not print red at all. RIght?

Customer:

No, it does not print red. When I try to print something red, it turns out orange or yellow, depending on the intensity of the red called for in the graphics.

Shefin :

All other colors are fine?

Customer:

Yes...excepting for instance, I think that some greens and blues are too yellowish. But doesn't the red control some of that? Brown for instance would rely on the red toner and that color is off too.

Customer:

I said yes, to the above but I actually think they are off color too.

I have already been to that website......I have spent hours on this problem with no success.....that website did not help.

it is not printing properly for that either. The purples are pale pink and gray.

skin tones are yellow.

Have you removed any toners recently?

Customer:

we replace toners all the time....whenever the machine tells us to...and perform the cleaning procedure (slides in drum) when each is replaced. I just replaced the drum hoping that was the problem...it wasn't.

Have you checked if the toner is low for any color?

Customer:

Usually the computer tells us when it is low and we replace then. I cannot figure out how to check on this printer's ink levels...cannot find.

I meant printer.....not computer...in the above statement

Could you please try the Corona wires?

ANd the Drum unit too?

what does that mean? yes I need instructions

Cleaning Corona wires and Drum unit will resolve most of the quality issues.

Customer:

Oh yes.....corona wires are clean...I replaced the drum yesterday. I am sorry but we do this every time we replace a cartridge.

Could you please try printing anything in Cyan colcor?

Yes....I have tried that...in general, I would say it isn't bad

Now, try blue.

Only blue.

ummm...I am confused...isn't the cyan.... blue?

Yes, it is a light blue.

Shefin :

You have to try Black, yellow, Magenta and Cyan colors.

okay.....see how the magenta is pink, the red is orange? That problem is affecting all the colors.

SO, the issue seems with the Magenta Toner.

I am leaning that way.

I did that before I contacted you.

Do you think that the Magenta TOner is low?

Customer:

I am challenging yo on this one aren't I? :)

I am just checking with you, because you know the is it is full or not.

Actually, I do not think the toner is low because the machine is pretty good about telling us that and because we keep a set of all toners on hand at all times, yet we do not have a magenta on hand right now which tells me that it was replaced recently. Is there a way that you know of to check with this printer on the toner levels?

no, I have not. I saw that yesterday and it was not in the saver mode.

Are you using WIndows 7 as your operating system?

Customer:

no...I think it is vista

Click Start button -->All Programs-->Brother--> ...-->Status Monitor.

Customer:

just checked...it is vista

Could you please remove all the toners, and try replacing it once again and doing a color calibration?

should I print another copy of the image you sent me?

Only after doing so.

Customer:

I took out the cartridges, put them back in, set the printer to recalibrate. when it finished, I printed out your graphics and it looks exactly like the image I sent you before.

Shefin :

I apologize that I am out of ideas.

Shefin :

It is the Magenta color looking not good. Right?

Customer:

I understand.....I think I am tapped out too....thank you so much for trying.
