I have a Canon MX860. All of the color cartridges are full

I have a Canon MX860. All of the color cartridges are full but the color is not right.

Have you tried print head cleaning?

Customer:

No, how do I do that?

Shefin :

First, do it manually.

Shefin :
Remove all the ink cartridges from the machine.+
Customer:

okay

Shefin :
Then clean the contacts on the cartridges as well as inside the machine itself. Inside means the printhead where the cartrdige seats.
Shefin :
Do this with a small amount of warm water on a cotton swab until no ink comes off on the swab.
Shefin :
If any of the other cartridges are low, empty, leaking or bulging replace them.
Shefin :
Then turn off the machine and unplug it for 5 minutes.
Customer:

okay, I will start that now

Shefin :

Okay.

Customer:

the printer head went all the way to the right while I was busy doing other things. Should I turn the printer on and off?

Shefin :

Turn the printer ON, open the scanner lid. then, it will come back.

Shefin :

Then, unplug the power cable.

Customer:

Do the contacts on the cartridges really need to be cleaned until they show no ink? That seems like it will take awhile?

Shefin :

That is alright.

Shefin :

Leave it as it is.

Shefin :

Have you done that?

Customer:

I just finished cleaning the printheads on the machine. Now will turn it off for 5 minutes and then try printing something

Shefin :

After restarting the printhead, it may start cleaning printhead. If so, continue with the cleaning process.

Customer:

okay

Customer:

That didn't do it The blue is pale pink, green is yellow, purple is pink, red is good and yellow is good

Shefin :

Please do a nozzlecheck.

Customer:

Okay, how do I do that?

Shefin :

Press the Menu button.

Customer:

Use the (Left) or (Right) arrow button to select Settings , and press the OK button. The Settings screen will appear.

Use the (Left) or (Right) arrow button to select Maintenance , and press the OK button.

Use the (Up) or (Down) arrow button to select Nozzle check, and press the OK button.

The pattern print confirmation screen will appear.

yes it is full. Should I just try a new one in case that is bad somehow?

Try cleaning the printhead.

Instead of Nozzle check pattern, select clean printhead.

it wants me to replace the big black one

Do you get any error message?

Customer:

No. I noticed that the blue one does sit above the others just a tiny bit

Are you able to reinstall it?

Customer:

yes, I tried a few times and finally did. I am printing up something now to see if that helped

Still no blue?

yes It just told me my large black was running low so I put in a new one

That is alright.

The blue one is new. Right?

It is pretty new. I tried just putting in a new one and it leaked all over me! I'll try another new one

It may not work, if the issue is with the printhead.

Shefin :

If that too will not work, you will loose one of the cartridge. Right?

Too late! Trying it now

yes it didnt help

That is why I told you, it will be the same.

Can you remove the printhead from the printer.

Shefin :

The issue seems to be with the printhead itself.

okay. should have listened to you. how do i remove the printhead

Shefin :

First, remove all the cartrdiges.

Customer:

okay

Shefin :

Raise the print head lock lever.

Shefin :

Tilt the print head slightly towards the front of the machine and lift out gently.

Customer:

okay

Shefin :

Then, clean the printhead and the place where the printhead seats.

Shefin :

do i need to do that for all the heads again or just the blue

The printhead, and the blue.

Yes.

That is the only one option remains. If the issue still persists, you have to replace the printhead in order to get the issue resolved.

or maybe get a new printer?

Is the printer too old?

Shefin :

More than three years?>/

If it is too old, it will be better getting a new printer.
