Welcome, below you will find the steps to clear a printer jam, even thou there is no paper jammed inside the system. If you run into problems use the buttons below to respond to me.

1. Turn printer unit ON
2. Pull the power plug from the back side of it
3. wait 1 min
4. Plug unit back in
5. wait 3 full minutes
6. try to print does the jam error still exist? If yes continue below

Locate one piece of CARD STOCK paper and manually feed it up against the feed assembly and into the feed. the idea is too dislodge any pieces of paper that may be broken off inside the rollers. Repeat this process until the jam error goes away.

If the CARD STOCK paper trick does not do it for you, then locate 1 can of compressed air certified for electronics, ie. walmart $4 open all printer covers, unplug the printer, and spray vigorously around each of the rollers. Plug printer back in, and try to print. if you continue to receive the same exact error, you may respond using the buttons below. Please DO NOT RATE me until I have solved this for you.

IF YOUR ISSUE CONTINUES PROCEED BELOW

Locate one can of COMPRESSED AIR approved for electronics WALMART $4 and spray vigorously in all open covers and areas, REMOVE POWER CABLE FIRST, continue to process until you have expended all of the can of air. Concentrate in areas where you will rollers. The rollers run from left to right and right to left not vertical.

I will continue to support you until we have solved this issue.

IF YOUR PROBLEM IS SOLVED, PLEASE PROVIDE ME WITH A HAPPY RATING! Please DO NOT RATE me until I have solved this for you.

Hello,

I have overlooked everything you have already tried, please go through the cleaning and reset methods here:

  1. On the operator panel, press and hold the ON/OFF button for one second to power off the printer. (The display will go blank.)
Note: It may be necessary to unplug the power cord if pressing the ON/OFF button does not shut off the printer.
  2. Confirm the printer is not on and then unplug the power cord from the back of the printer. If the power cord was disconnected (as stated in step 1) in order to shut off the printer, go to step 3.
  3. Press the ON/OFF button repeatedly five times.
  4. Re-connect the power cord.
  5. Press the ON/OFF button to power the printer back on.
  6. Wait until the device has completed its cycling process before submitting another job request.
That should clear this up, if not, it may be a paper feed jam, or an internal paper jam:
  1. Power off the printer.
  2. Remove paper from the Rear Tray.
  3. Look in the Rear Tray area for an obstruction. If there is any foreign material (such as a piece of metal or pen) inside the printer, after turning the printer off and removing the power cord from the outlet, remove the foreign material by hand, or with tweezers.
  4. Open the scanning unit (printer cover) and confirm that there is no foreign material in the printer. If there is any foreign material, remove it.
    Note: Avoid touching inner parts.
  5. Close the scanning unit (printer cover).
Note: When closing the scanning unit (printer cover), be careful not to jam your finger.
  6. Power on the printer and confirm that the printer operates normally.

Most commonly it's a sensor issue if you haven't done all the cleaning steps, including spraying the unit out with canned air from walmart or a local store, if this error doesn't reset you have a faulty printer on your hands with internal hardware issues.

1. There is some piece of paper / paper clip / sticker stuck inside printer and you are not able to access it. In this case you need to remove all ink cartridges, turn off printer, then turn it upside down and shake it few times. If still not working then you need to open it up as much you can to see if something is stuck

2. The electric sensor which receives signal from the mechanical paper sensor to detect jam has issues. Either there is dust on it or its gone bad and needs replacement. You should first open up the printer and blow air in it (using compressed air can) to remove all dust.

if reset method not works for you then you go for the new logic board replacement, I would advise then take part in Canon's program they are giving 50-75% of services, repairs, and new units for sending in your old faulty one(even if out of warranty).
