I have a Lexmark S6005 which has been working fine until just recently. Now when printing the first page is dripping with red ink (all over the page). I have tried cleaning and deep cleaning but still have the problem.
Optional Information: Make: LESMARK Model: S6005 Already Tried: Cleaning the print heads and deep cleaning the print heads and changing the magenta cartridge.
Good evening. Thanks for using JustAnswer, the internet's independent source for answers to questions. I'm XXXXX XXXXX, XXXXXnamed "DrKlahn."Disclosure: JustAnswer has no business relationship with Lexmark, and is not an official support site for Lexmark products. The problem statement strongly suggests one of three issues:1. Breaks in the magenta ink supply tubing or pathways.2. Failure in the magenta section of the printhead.3. Ink absorber pads full.4. Magenta cartridge mis-seated.Since you've replaced the magenta cartridge, the problem is not that the cartridge is mis-seated. There is so much ink on the page that (2) is not probable. If the ink absorber pads were full, the ink would be on the back side of the paper instead of the front.A break in the magenta ink supply would provide unregulated flow of ink to the printhead and surrounding area, which would drag ink all over the page as droplets. Every time the printhead returned to the parking position, it would pick up more ink. This matches the problem symptoms quite well.Unfortunately, this is not a repairable problem. By this I mean economically repairable, not impossible to repair. It is certainly possible to ship your S605 to a Lexmark facility ($25), pay the two hour shop minimum ($150), plus parts ($50), plus return shipping ($25). However, paying $250 to repair a printer that is readily available on ebay for $70 shipped is not a good use of money. See the ebay search below:http://www.ebay.com/ctg/Lexmark-Interact-S605-AllInOne-Inkjet-Printer-/82751960?_refkw=S605+lexmark&_pcatid=42&_ipg=&_pcategid=171961&_from=&_dmpt=COMP_Printers&_dashexp=1&_armrs=1Under the circumstances, I recommend replacing the printer in its entirety. This will allow you to continue using the same supplies and the same software. There may be an escape hatch on the warranty, however. If you purchased the printer with a credit card (American Express and Visa are good on this), many cards double the manufacturer's warranty up to one additional year. If this might apply, check your cardholder's benefits flyer. If this does apply, contact your card supplier at the number in the benefits flyer to have the printer replaced or refunded. If anything in this answer is unclear, or you'd like something explained in more detail, don't hesitate to ask.If the problem is not resolved or this answer is unsatisfactory for any reason, do not accept and rate it. Let me know why, give me a chance to correct it, and let me know how I can do better in the future.Remember: Further discussion is always possible, even after an Answer has been accepted.
