MyOkidata C7200 shows alternating Yellow toner sener error/black toner sener error. Printer was printing very poorly I have replace the both image drum unit (they need to be anyway) and new toner cartridges. Printer now printer very well but error messages still appear. What did I miss?
Optional Information: Make: Okidata Model: C7200
At a guess I would say that the persistence of the error message is an indication either that the two sensors mentioned are both dirty and need cleaning off, or that they are both defective. (The toner sensors would be the sensors that detect the toner level in the cartridges of that color.)Did you shake the toner cartridges a bit, before installing them? if not, remove them and do so and put them back in.(If this seems too approximate, or if you have other reasons, I am willing to Opt Out of this case in favor of another Professional's opinion.)
yes I did shake them. Since the print quality is good is there any risk of demage to just ignore the error message? even if it is until I replace the toner cartridges?
Use the print quality as the error message of indication, instead, I suggest. The toner sensors basically either dip into, or more usually look through into, the toner cartridge, to determine the toner level. Look at where the black and the yellow toner cartridges fit in - is there any loose toner there? try wiping off all plastic surfaces (esp. any that look 'clear') with a clean, dry, high-quality rag cloth, to make sure all toner has been cleaned. Then put the cartridges back in and try again. (Note: if any bluish metallic cylinder or rollers are seen or visible or involved, be it noted, they damage very easily, either by being touched or moistened or scratched or abraded or being exposed to direct light for over 3 minutes per half hour or so.)
