Customer Question

I live in Spain - near Cartagena, in Murcia Province. I have a Canon MX300 series printer.
The message on screen is that the "ink absorber" is full (error 5800) and I should contact the service centre. Please advise me of the nearest service centre or can I take the machine to a store which sells the Canon printers?

I am British and do not spaek Spanish, so please respond in English.

Colin Vincent :

Hi there my name is Colin.

Firstly about the error message on the printer, the waste ink absrober is generally expected to last the lifetime of the printer. For that reason it is not a store replaceable item as it requires a major strip of the printer to replace as it is deep in the base of the printer. The warning message is a page count based warning designed to stop ink over flow.

Re service any Canon dealer should be able to send it back for you but there are only 2 service centres in Spain which handle all of the repairs from dealers or you can usually go direct to the service center via courier delivery but you will need to speak to the individual service center for arrangements.

This is the contact number and site for both service centers in Madrid and Barcelona. They should be able to help you in English if you go direct.

Tel: 902 020 060 http://www.serplus.es/es/area-canon.html

The only other option is a local independant technician to you but they will need to know the reset proceedure for the warnign message as well as physically replacing the part.
